About Startup Nation Conference “The goal of the conference is to build a bridge between Tel Aviv and Miami’s own budding startup community”- Matt Haggman Program Director Knight Foundation In March of last year, a delegation of entrepreneurs and tech community leaders from Miami arrived in Israel thanks to a collaboration between the Knight Foundation and the American Jewish Committee’s Project Interchange. Miami’s delegation conversed with some of the world’s most innovative problem solvers. Among the delegation was Leandro Finol, Executive Director of The Idea Center at Miami Dade College. Finol bonded quickly with Oren Simanian, Founder and CEO at StarTAU Tel Aviv University Entrepreneurship Centre. At first, their conversation was mostly about soccer rather than innovation or entrepreneurship. After an hour though, Finol and Simanian felt the responsibility to join hands with their prestigious institutions. Since this trip, The Idea Center at MDC and Tel Aviv University have taken the lead with the following mission: connecting two ecosystems through a combination of education, networking and investments.

The Startup Nation Conference is laying the foundation for a long-lasting relationship that will continue throughout the year with a breakthrough educational program. So here we are, joining hands with leaders in the Miami community, and our counterparts in Tel Aviv to launch a groundbreaking conference!
